In 1999, the team @ AudioQuraan.com,
found that Islamic audio on the net, unfortunately, was
lacking audio fidelity.
What do we mean by this?
Well, most sites have had
to make do with the space available and therefore have
had to compromise on the audio. This can mean crackly
and even unclear renditions of the original which may
have been created using today's modern recording capabilities,
such as the Minidisc or Digital Audio Tape (DAT). The
site developers have had to compress them to such an extent
that this sometimes has a negative effect on the audio
downloaded.
All the audio here is of
a quality we call 'near CD quality'. This gives the as
true a correct atmosphere and ambience to the recording
as possible without having to use the original recording.
E.g.
Full 74min CD recording 44Khz 16bit Stereo = 750Mb
Compressed 74min MP3 recording CD Quality = 85Mb
Compressed 74Min MP3 recording, near CD Quality 40Mb
Compressed 74Min WMA recording, near CD Quality 30Mb
Yes, we do use compression
but of the latest quality which allows us to also monopolise
on the space we have available to us and also allow our
users the ability to download the audio as quickly as
possible.
We constantly are striving
to find the latest technologies which can compress the
original audio and, which, in turn allow our users to
benefit from Clear CD quality audio. Our goal, Inshah-Allah,
is to one day be able to compress audio to pure CD Quality
whilst retaining High Compression therefore allowing easy
download ability.
